Courtyard Garden Design
2021
A new build property close to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. A beautiful house in a sought after area finished to a high spec; but with a courtyard garden the developers must have run out of ideas for. As you can see in the pictures it was more like a prison yard than a space you would want to spend time in.
The brief was to transform it into a Moroccan style haven with lush vegetation, Mediterranean plants in pots, a water feature and a sitting area that can be used all year round with bespoke lighting and a devilishly clever irrigation system.
Peter works closely with his clients and came up with a way to use the space and have a mass of planting thanks to installing living walls, some mature and exotic planting, a feature stone water feature and Moroccan Tadelakt plastering on the walls, a specialist skill, heating in the sitting area, Terracotta tiles on the floor and a state of the art outdoor hi-fi system with speakers placed in the living walls.
The completed project gave the clients an outside room that they could use all year round and it is used regularly even now 5 years on. It shows what can be done with a small, enclosed space.
