What We Offer
About Thyme Gardening is a reliable, professional and fully RHS qualified garden design, garden maintenance and lawn specialist business for private gardens based in North Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
We offer a range of services including full garden design, soft and hard landscaping, garden maintenance, design and planting of borders, tree and hedge planting, turfing, meadow management and enhancement, woodland management and bulb planting. These can be one-off services or part of a longer-term relationship whereby a garden is gradually improved over a period of years.
About Thyme Gardening specialises in designing, building and maintaining private gardens. Our aim is to transform drab, barren and overgrown gardens into vibrant, beautiful and sustainable spaces to be enjoyed by their owners. From small courtyard gardens to country estates with dozens of acres.
The team consists of Peter and Esther who met at Manea School of Gardening when studying for their level 2 RHS qualifications. Peter & Esther have years of gardening experience behind them and have recently been working as WRAGS trainee gardeners at Churchill University College, Cambridge and Castor House near Peterborough, both prestigious gardens in their own right.
Peter & Esther gave up jobs in business to re-train so that they could do what they loved. Peter is a retired Police Officer and Esther was a fully qualified accountant both working in highly stressful environments.
Both Peter and Esther are absolutely passionate about garden design and upkeep of beautiful gardens and the third member of the team is Colin, Esther’s father who is the lawn specialist after years as a head green keeper at golf clubs such as Woburn & St Pierre the prestigious Championship course in Chepstow.
Central to our approach is an appreciation that beautiful, low maintenance; successful gardens need to relate to their environment, the buildings and their surroundings. The clients needs and wishes are also incorporated to develop a garden that works horticulturally and aesthetically.
We work on the ethos of “Right plant, right place” and will give you colour and interest throughout the seasons. We have a superb knowledge of plants and trees and provide only plants grown in this country by certified growers ensuring the carbon footprint, which is very important to us.
About Thyme Gardening creates gardens that are viewed as spaces to be planted rather than areas just to be laid to hard landscaping. We design and plant up entire gardens or just individual beds and schemes.
Despite our love of plants, we do lay stone paving, build wood structures, create ponds, erect fencing and other hard landscaping features when we undertake a complete garden. This enables us to ensure the quality of build, keep to a schedule and accommodate changes.
For larger projects, About Thyme has a network of other contractors including tree surgeons, builders and electricians for lighting.
